With the increase in prices all around and analysts predicting a recession will happen (they do this almost every year) there comes a time where you just have to start thinking about making more side-income. With my professional background being considered, I thought of starting an e-business selling cakes. To best sell my product or service and utilizing, here are a few of the basic e-business strategies that I employ!
Create a Digital Footprint
Thanks to TikTok, influencer marketing has replaced traditional marketing and has shaped the buying patterns of end-users everywhere. An outlet can sell the most mid tasting cake but if it goes viral with key individuals in the space advocating said product, you can be almost be certain to get sales. That is why one of the key strategies that I am still working on now is to create a greater brand presence specifically for myself and the cake business.
This means making content (daily if possible) and shamelessly sharing it to friends, family and relevant online spaces. While the process is slow and may not yield results during the first few months, once your account starts riding the algorithm due to the organic shares and likes then your videos will start hitting views in the millions.
Another tip relating to this strategy is to not get discouraged if the views are less than satisfactory (like in the single digits). Trust the process and keep making content consistently. The views may not be great now but over-time once your popularity starts growing the older content will eventually get a spike in views as well. Think of it as a long-term investment!
Use Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and content optimization
SEO is important regardless of whether or not your business has a website. Ensuring that popular keywords are being used does go a long way in getting your product or service recognized. For me, that would be including “viral” and/or “affordable” in the content title when it concerns the product.
Due to this, your content will be more likely to be recommended to the targeted audience. This helps with organic views and shares. Once enough data has been obtained, you can get an overview of what type of content works. Optimizing your content matters! You do not want to spend hours shooting and editing content to not have it resonate with audiences.
Emphasize on Customer Experience
Finally, would be the importance of interacting with your customers and audiences. For my e-business, that includes doing occasional TikTok livestreams. For Malaysia, during campaign periods the userbase of the app will rise as people are looking for the best deals.
By going live during this period the potential of capturing the market will help tremendously in solidifying your digital footprint. Be sure to make the live entertaining and constantly keep audiences engaged. You will be sure to make some sales during that period and build some goodwill in the process.
Your e-business success especially for TikTok is about consistent effort across various aspects of the platform. Building your following would be the initial hurdle. Next comes a focus on maintaining trust and delivering valuable content. With the right approach and continuous learning, your small e-businesses can grow into thriving digital brands!
