Welcome to the 2020!

It’s the year 2020! Also, Sam uses GIMP for the first time.

Woohoo!

It’s the new year! And with the new year comes new goals and new projects to tackle! Personally for me it’s a chance to embark on a few things that I’ve been thinking about last year. First off, you will notice that the site has a slight tweak-up. I have put in a menu bar and it contains links to Accounting Articles and the Startup School series of articles – this makes it easier for you to look for articles and comics on those specific topics.

I’ve also made a small tweak, linking the page to its social media feeds so now you can follow me on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. There will also be a small (not too annoying) pop-up that will come up after roughly 2 minutes of landing on the page that will gently remind you to FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA!!!

So this year I have a few things planned up such as:

  1. Sam Says: Sam Says will be a new category of blog post that talks about issues in a more personal matter. I will discuss my views on accounting and finance issues with some thoughts on what it means to be a money/comedy/finance writer/comic artist/academic. It is the avenue in which I will be sharing my (mostly uncontroversial) thoughts.
  2. Video tutorials: The best way to learn is by doing right? Well, the second best way to learn is to watch someone else do it! In these video tutorials I will teach you how to account for your money, manage your finances and pay taxes online (for NZ tax residents). As the series goes on I’ll probably think of other things I can do videos on (accounting-themed parody songs maybe?)
  3. Podcasts: Podcasts are all the rage these days. So this year I will be talking to some individuals involved in finance/accounting and small business startups and sharing their thoughts and advice with all of you, my avid listeners!
  4. Comic strips: Having silly drawings on articles barely qualifies as a ‘Comic’ so this year, living up to my name as the Comic Accountant, I will be producing one single panel comic strip a month of varying length. These may be based on existing posts – but in pure unadulterated comic format (which is way more fun to share than regular blog posts).

So that’s it, that’s all I have planned for this year. Remember to like the blog on Facebook, Follow me on Twitter and Connect with me on LinkedIn. If you need any help with accounting or setting up a business, you know where to find me.

Keep Having Fun!

Love, Sam
