It’s the end of the year, and here’s our year-end achivements!

(3 minute read – year-end achievement)

Hi Accounting fans!

We’ve come to the end of the year once again! Congratulations to everyone who’s made it through 2021. 2021 did bring with it some challenges but for the most part, I’d say that globally we were better prepared for COVID than we were in 2020. 2021 has also been a pretty awesome year for us here at SH Advisory and our blog, The Comic Accountant.

Please note that if you are a client of SH Advisory that we will be on break from 20 December 2021 until 17 January 2022 (phewh!). For our non-client fans, this also means that we will have a less rigorous publishing schedule over the break! Rest assured we will be back at it after the 17 of January 2022.

Thanks for being our awesome supporters. We have come this far because of you! Here are some of our achievements for this year:

Achievement : Expanded the team!

This was a big decision for me. For 1 and a half years I had run this blog and the business solo. But based on the growth projections that I had, I knew I needed help. The first two recruits were Ryan and Harry. Ryan runs our social media feed and Harry helps out with the accounting side of things. A few months later, we brought in Peter ‘TheIncredibleHolt’ Holt who has done an amazing job in editing videos (and doing voiceovers) for our YouTube Channel. Watch this space, we’re going to add more video content next year! Then I approached one of my old PhD buddies, Peter Chong to help out with our new training offerings (like the self employment startup course!).

It’s going to be an awesome year moving forwards and we’re going to do some kick-ass things!

Achievement : Getting Featured in Digital Boost NZ

Heard of Digital Boost NZ? It’s an awesome platform for Small Businesses in NZ to gain free, expert advice on how to grow their business (especially in these challenging times). I remember getting the email from Anamari Fanthorpe out of the blue one day, asking if I wanted to run a session on digital boost.

One session turned into two sessions and now we’re even booked in for a third session next year! Being able to share important finance tips for small businesses around NZ was a big deal for our little firm. It helped showcase our expertise, it brought in a heap of new clients for us and more importantly, we helped dozens (if not hundreds) of small businesses around the country.

We bring energy and light heartedness to what many people consider a dry topic. We put the fun in finance and we make tax, taxciting! You can check out some of the sessions we’ve run on the Digital Boost Facebook.

Achievement : Collab post with Pocketsmith!

Pocketsmith is my favorite home accounting software. I’ve been using Pocketsmith since 2015 and it’s been key to my family’s financial confidence. It’s helped greatly in us getting a clearer focus on how we’re spending our money and building up our investments to achieve our financial goals. Also, it’s a Kiwi-born Software and famous internationally!

So when I received an email from the marketing team of Pocketsmith I was SO STOKED. We set about working on an awesome collab post (read it here) about the importance of home accounting software. We got featured on the Pocketsmith blog and reached out to a much wider audience (woohoo!).

More importantly, we got to work with one of our most favorite companies in the fintech sector here in NZ. We’re looking forward to more collaborations in the future!!!

What’s next for us?

Good question. We have some awesome plans for next year. Most of it will only kick into full swing by April 2022. We’re going to run more trainings, build more strategic collaborations with other big players in the financial sector (Please notice us Xero!) and pump out more quality content for all of you.

We will remain true to our core values of Honesty, Sharing and Fun. We’ll also be incorporating a new core value – accountability, which we’ll talk about more in the new year!

In the mean time, have a Merry Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

STAY POSITIVE!!!!

Sam
